You should have the vocabulary words defined by tomorrow, 1-24-12 as you enter class. There are 15 words to define and can be found on pg. 60 in the yellow box in your text.
Extra credit: Bring in some samples of rocks and minerals. Label with your name and hour and place in a ziploc baggie. Also, you may continue to research any mineral or gem for extra credit points.
Tell me: 1. Which ore is the gem found in? 2. Where is it found on Earth? 3. What purpose does it have? 4. Who orignially found it / when? 5. What is the value of it per gram today in U.S. dollars?

Ch. 5 Conserving Life (last chapter in Ecology books)

Today is Tuesday, 11-29-11. As of today it is expected that you have read all of ch. 5 section 1 and that you are studying the 12 vocabulary words highlighted in yellow from the chapter. YOUR VOCABULARY QUIZ is scheduled for FRIDAY, DEC. 2nd. STUDY STUDY STUDY!
Also you are developing a list of facts from the Planet Earth Video “Saving Species” that we’ve been viewing in class.
You should have a new folder or binder (or an old decent one that still works) and two assignments numbered and in order behind your new Table of Contents for Q2. Keep in mind you are to have a folder, journal, book, and pencil or pen in class daily. :)

BIOME DIARAMA PROJECT Began: Friday, Nov. 4th Due: Monday, Nov. 14th

I hope you are all working hard on your diarama projects. We have been using class time to work all week long. (Nov. 7th – Nov. 11th).
Please refer to biome information sheet on my blog. Just search biome information sheet in the search box and double click on the attachment. Please know this sheet must be finished and turned in when you present your biome to the class. I will be after school all this week if you have questions regarding the diarama project. Into Chapter 2 “The Nonliving Environment”

Currently we are entering chapter two and will be learning all about the nonliving environment. Students, as of today 10-10-11, should have nine assignments in their binders/folders. Please realize how important it is to keep up with your Table of Contents. It is a useful tool for studying, talking with parents about what we are learning, and it teaches you to be organized.
